COMMUTERS faced lengthy delays when traffic became grid-locked in Leeds today.

Motorists were stuck in queues along Scott Hall Road, in Chapel Allerton, into Leeds city centre after reports of heavier than usual traffic.

There were also queing traffic on the A58 (M) Inner Ring Road westbound into Leeds in the road works area at A65 West Street and congestion to the A58 Clay Pit Lane.

Motorists also faced long delays on the M62 eastbound after an accident between junction 25, Brighouse, and junction 27, Gildersome, and a broken down vehicle earlier this morning.

West Yorkshire Police said there had been no reports of accidents in Leeds that could have contributed to the heavy traffic.
