Colton Primary pupils learn how to be climate enforcers
Pupils at Colton Primary School are among the first in the city to be enrolled as climate enforcement officers.

Leeds City Council and Education Leeds have been working closely with npower to host the npower Climate Cop Academy, a new programme designed to teach seven to 11-year-olds how to become more energy efficient.

Sixty children from Colton Primary got involved in environment-saving activities and learned simple ways to save energy. These included thermal imaging cameras, generating electricity with leg and arm power and working with miniature examples of renewable energy sources.
The initiative is part of the npower Greener Schools Programme - a five-year scheme designed to make UK schools more sustainable.
Headteacher, Mrs Andy Sayers, said: "The Climate Cops Academy has taught the children about climate change and energy saving in a really fun, engaging way. They've learnt some simple ways to conserve energy that will make a big difference to the school, their homes and the environment."
Chris Edwards, chief executive of Education Leeds, added: "This is an important and timely issue which is why we are supporting our schools to be not only good, improving and inclusive, but also to become sustainable schools.
"It is the small things we can all do that add up to making a big difference and we hope this programme will work with other schools in the city to help reduce overall the amount of energy used."
Another east Leeds school, Fieldhead Carr Primary at Whinmoor, is also to take part in the scheme.
