Cocktail of drink and drugs taken before double stabbing

Luke Grainger.

Luke Grainger.

A man who stabbed two others at flats in Wakefield where his mother lived was fuelled by a cocktail of drink and drugs a court heard.

Luke Grainger said he had drunk 20 cans of lager, two litres of vodka as well as having taken drugs during October 28 last year before going to the address in Pinderfields Road.

Jailing Grainger at Leeds Crown Court yesterday, (Feb 22) the Recorder of Leeds, Judge Peter Collier QC said disinhibited by those, Grainger believed the two men had been taking the “micky” out of his mother Samantha Hutchinson, although she said not.

He armed himself with a vegetable knife and went upstairs to a flat where having been let in, he attacked Carl Scott, 36, stabbing him and inflicting six wounds to his body “fortunately causing no damage to underlying organs.”

He then went downstairs where Mark Millard, 33, had just entered the foyer and attacked him, causing five wounds, again causing injuries from which he had also recovered.

Grainger, 21, of Hoyland Road, Wakefield, admitted two charges of wounding with intent and was given six years in prison with licence extended a further four years.
