THOUSANDS of pounds worth of clothing was taken after a gang in a stolen car ram raided a designer shop in Leeds city centre.

The gang used the stolen BMW to smash through the security shutters and windows at the front of Flannels on Vicar Lane at about 11.15pm last night.

They grabbed clothing from display racks before driving off in a stolen black Mercedes C220 estate, registration KY04UYZ, that was later found abandoned in Naseby Garth, Lincoln Green.

The black BMW, registration L584GNT, was left at the scene of the raid.

The items stolen were mainly Moncler branded hooded and quilted jackets, worth hundreds of pounds each.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw the suspects abandoning the Mercedes in Naseby Garth, to contact them.

They also want to hear from anyone who has been offered Moncler jackets for sale in suspicious circumstances or who is aware of anyone who has just started wearing one.

Call CID at Holbeck police station via 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously and in confidence, on 0800 555111.
