Cleckheaton: Factory workers taken to hospital after machine explosion

An area cordoned off following an explosion at a factory Flexitallic, Hunsworth Lane, Cleckheaton.

An area cordoned off following an explosion at a factory Flexitallic, Hunsworth Lane, Cleckheaton.

THIRTEEN workers were taken to hospital after a machine explosion at a factory in West Yorkshire.

The blast happened at the Flexitallic plant on Hunsworth Lane, Cleckheaton, at about 8.20pm yesterday. (March 4)

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said staff from the factory were taken to hospital for precautionary check-ups.

Early reports last night said an oven used in the manufacture of gasket sheets had exploded.

The blast is understood to have blown out at least one window at the factory but is not thought to have caused any further structural damage.
