Clare Brooke: Bramley singer in tribute album after stillborn tragedy

A professional singer from Bramley who endured a tragic stillbirth is to release an album of tribute songs to raise funds for a charity for bereaved parents.

Clare Brooke, 28, was eight months pregnant when she gave birth to stillborn son Owen in November last year.

Clare and her husband Matthew tried for three years to have a baby before she fell pregnant with Owen, who died from a placental abruption and midwives later recommended the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (Sands) as a support network.

Clare, who is one half of singing duo The Little Ladies, now plans to release a tribute album in aid of Sands, which she described as a "godsend".

And as well as the album, Clare has a new arrival to look forward to... she is three months pregnant with her second child, which is due in December.

She said: "I'd already struggled to have a baby so when I found out I was pregnant with Owen, I was over the moon.

"To lose him was absolutely heart-wrenching.

"The staff at St James's were amazing. A midwife gave me a leaflet about Sands and gradually, I made friends through the site. It was a godsend.

"When I was watching videos of myself while I was pregnant with Owen, I saw myself singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

"I realised that I shared those songs with him and I wanted to express myself that way.

"I just wanted to give something back to Sands and I thought this was a good idea."

To promote the idea for the album, which will be called Touched By An Angel, Clare posted a video of herself singing on YouTube and appealed for individuals or businesses to donate time in a recording studio.
