A citizens Advice Bureau worker had over 100 indecent images of children on a laptop when police searched his West Yorkshire home.

Colin Prout, 55, was caught after police received information that a legitimate internet website had been compromised by people uploading the illegal images.

Investigations in March 2011 revealed Prout had accessed the the wbsite and he was arrested at his then home in Huddersfield.

A laptop was seized from the property and it was found to contain 116 illegal images and two movies. Prout, of Broadgate, Ossett, near Wakefield, pleaded guilty to six offences of making indecent photographs of a child. Mark Brookes, mitigating, said the father-of-two had split up from his wife since his arrest.

Mr Brookes said Prout worked for the Citizens Advice Bereau but now intended to resign as he was facing disciplinary proceedings as a result of the offences.

The court heard Prout had also been receiving help to tackle his offending behaviour.

Prout was made the subject of a three-year community order in which he must attend a sex offender treatment programme.

He will also have to go on the sex offenders register for five years.
