Circus of Horrors stars showcase unusual skills

Doktor Haze removes the sword from Hannibal Hellmurto at the Circus of Horrors at the City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds.

This time last year, sword swallower Hannibal Helmurto spent weeks in hospital after he accidentally skewered himself with a lit neon tube during a jaw-dropping routine.

Hannibal was performing in Bradford last year when the almost fatal incident occurred, which left him spending four weeks in intensive care after he ripped a hole in his throat.

Now a year later, tattooed Hannibal, who hails from Germany, is back to his sword swallowing ways and will take to the stage in Leeds with the Circus of Horrors.

He will be joined at Leeds City Varieties alongside show creator and undead ringmaster Dr Haze, Anastasia IV the girl in the bottle, Captain Dan the demon dwarf and The Mongolian Laughing Boy.

The high-octane hellraisers, who stunned the Britain’s Got Talent judges earlier this year, will perform on Monday, October 29, and Tuesday, October 30.
