WORLD'S BEST: Chrissie Wellington has won four Ironman world titles.

WORLD'S BEST: Chrissie Wellington has won four Ironman world titles.

She’s already proved her mettle in one of the world’s toughest endurance events.

Now all-conquering Ironman athlete Chrissie Wellington is heading to Leeds to pass on the secrets of her success.

Chrissie is giving people the chance to join her on a 5km run in the city on Wednesday, December 21.

It will be followed by group training workouts as well as an evening question and answer session, all taking place at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, which counts Chrissie among its patrons.

Chrissie, who won her fourth women’s Ironman world title in Hawaii last month, said: “Jane has always been a huge inspiration to me and I have a lot of admiration for her

“Her unwavering determination, strength, courage and selflessness in the face of adversity is an inspiration to each and every one of us.

“To be able to host an event like this and share my passion with people, while also fundraise for the appeal, is a privilege.”

Jane’s widower, Mike, said: “Chrissie is a phenomenal champion and probably the most inspirational person in world sport and it’s amazing that she’s coming to Yorkshire to support the appeal.

“If only Jane were alive to see this happen. I’d encourage everyone to take what is a unique opportunity to train and be motivated by one of my heroes.”

Launched by fundraising heroine and Rothwell mum-of-three Jane before her death in 2007, the Tomlinson appeal supports a number of children’s and cancer charities.

Tickets for the full ‘Run With Chrissie’ package cost £50.
