Childminders leave the kids at home as they set out for charity run
By Ian Rosser
THIS group of childminders has more than 170 years experience between them of looking after babies, toddlers and young children.
But for one morning they will be leaving behind the pushchairs as they step out to raise cash for charity.
On Sunday at 10.30am, they will be joining other runners at the start of Race For Life 5k at Temple Newsam, Leeds, in aid of Cancer Research UK. The team, which has recruited 15 members in total, meet up each week at the Wigton Moor childminding group in north Leeds.
They will be running in memory of lost loved ones and in support of a member of the group who has retired through ill health. The team includes: Anne Anderson, Ann-Marie Firth, Belinda Smith, Christine and Malissa Abadi, Eileen Russell, Lorraine Middleton, Rona Findleton, Sarah Roberts, Sheila Wilks, Tamriss Lodge, Tracey Mewse, Priya Roberton and Sarah Mills.
