This adorable team are really on the ball when it comes to looking to score a new home.

These eight-week-old Collie pups are already top of the league when it comes to supporting the England squad to World Cup victory this summer.

Staff at Dogs Trust Leeds have named their own adorable team of eight after the country’s footballing heroes.

Frank Lampawd, Steven Gurrard, Phil Bones, Jordan Hounderson, Ross Barkley, Phil Wagielka, Jack Russell Wilshire and Spaniel Sturridge are all on the search for new homes.

The football-loving canines were handed to the rehoming centre on York Road when their owner was no longer able to care for them.

Deputy manager Emma Cooper said the young wags love nothing better than playing football.

She said: “They are incredibly playful and Collies are notorious for their energy and for playing with balls.

“They are very lively and cheeky and they are extremely confident.

“We want people with a knowledge about the breed who can give them a loving home.

“They require a lot of attention so we are looking for someone with a lot of patience and time on their hands.

“They would be ideal for people who would like to take them flyballing or agility training.”

And Emma warned that some members of the canine team are perhaps a little more in love with the glorious game than others.

She said: “There was one of them that was pretty lazy the other day and just laid around the pitch when we tried to play football.

“They all fall asleep at different periods which is just lovely to see and they are just lovely little pups.

“Some of the puppies are better than others when it comes to football which is just really typical of the England squad.

“They would absolutely give the England team a run for their money.”
