Police have issued CCTV images of men they want to find after a woman was subjected to a torrent of verbal abuse on a train.

The 23-year-old, from Durham, was alone in the first class carriage of the service from Leeds to Huddersfield when she was surrounded by a group of four men.

PC Penny Halliwell, of British Transport Police (BTP), said: “The men subjected the victim to explicit and lewd verbal abuse. One of the men then grabbed her knee and threw a wet paper bag in her face.”

The incident happened between 8.30pm and 9pm on Friday, November 29.

Officers have carried out several lines of enquiry but have now issued CCTV images of men they want to trace.

PC Halliwell added: “This was clearly an extremely distressing experience for the victim and I would urge anyone with information to come forward and speak to us.”

Anyone with information should contact BTP on 0800 405040 or text 61016, quoting reference number NEA/B4 of December 6, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
