Fun and games are on the cards in a range of activities sessions at a children’s group thanks to a cash boost from Comic Relief.
Kidz N Co, which caters for children aged five to 15 with additional needs, has received a grant of £1,000 from the YEP-backed Sport Relief Community Cash fund.
The cash grant helped pay for the hire of Beeston Village Community Centre for their meet-ups and equipment so the group can continue to offer arts and crafts, baking, toys, computers and day trips. The group helps children make friends and take part in fun activities as well as supports parents and offers advice and peer support.
Suzanne Jackson, Kidz N Co treasurer, said: “Without the support of this grant, the management committee would be worrying over the weekly cost of the rent.
“Our group would not have been able to afford the trips we are now able to provide for their families.
“The funding also helped us with the weekly costs for baking ingredients and arts and crafts materials which the children enjoy to do each week.
“We would like to say a massive thank you to the people of Leeds who fundraise for Sport Relief as without these grants we would have struggled financially to run our group.”
The YEP-backed Sport Relief Community Cash fund gives grants of between £500 and £1,000 to small organisations in Leeds that are helping local people who are living tough lives.
Other groups in Leeds are also being urged to grab a share of the £75,000 fund - before the deadline of March 4.
