Caretaker found dead at Pontefract primary school
A CARETAKER has been found hanged at the junior school where he works in Pontefract.
The school was immediately closed after the find and was to remain closed until Monday.
It is understood that Mr Scott Adams,27, was found dead at Orchard Head Junior and Infants School, Head Lane, Pontefract, at about 7.45am on Thursday.
It is believed that a member of staff at the school discovered him in the boiler room area and police were called.
A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police Wakefield Division said that she could confirm that officers were called to the school at 7.47am on Thursday where they found the body of a man. There were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death and the Coroner had been informed. The spokeswoman was unable to comment on the manner of the man's death.
Elaine McHale, Wakefield Council's corporate director for Family Services, said: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm the school's caretaker has died suddenly.
"Our deepest sympathies go out to his family at this very difficult time. Members of Orchard Head school staff and officers from the Council will do everything possible to support children and staff during this time.
"The school will remain closed on Thursday and Friday and reopen on Monday, June 29. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
