Cannabis farm found in Leeds factory
A sophisticated cannabis farm was unearthed by police in a factory in Hunslet, Leeds.
The fabricated room in Leathley Road was discovered by officers after a report of a broken outside door from neighbouring businesses.
Part of the factory was occupied by metal lorry container units, some containing body-building and weight lifting equipment.
Beyond a low brick wall a separate sealed 9ft tall room measuring about 40ft by 50ft had been built with studding walls clad with four inch thick insulation blocking and sealed with expanding foam.
Inside, officers discovered a hydroponics cannabis operation with high heat-emitting lights, individual watering networks fed from water butts and at least 300 mature plants growing in pots.
At one end of the room five 2ft diameter air extraction ducts had been installed.
A prefabricated office unit within the main building contained newspapers just a few days old.
A 59-year-old man was arrested at the premises on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.
Anyone with information about the building or people who have been using it recently is asked to contact the City Neighbourhood Policing Team via 0113 2413101.
