Cancer survivor gets in the saddle for hospital
A former cancer sufferer is geared up to cycle across France to raise money for the hospital which helped him overcome his disease.
Neil Smith, 34, was treated at St James’s University Hospital on Beckett Street after he was diagnosed.
And Neil – now living in France – wants to show his gratitude to the hospital with a sponsored bike ride around his new homeland.
There has already been sponsorship interest from high-street giants Marks & Spencer, but Neil hopes to garner more support when he heads back to the UK in the coming months.
The hospital, affectionately known as Jimmy’s, opened a 220 million cancer wing in 2007.
