CANADIAN rockers Nickelback today became the latest big-name act to confirm a show at the new Leeds Arena.

The band will play the £60m venue on November 27 as part of their eagerly-awaited greatest hits tour.

Arena general manager Ben Williams said: “It’s a real honour to have such a celebrated and internationally renowned group play here.

“Having wowed crowds for more than 14 years, Nickelback have a huge and incredibly loyal fanbase.”

“We expect that there will be plenty of people across Yorkshire who are just as excited as we are that the Leeds Arena has been included as part of this legendary tour.”

Rock superstar Bruce Springsteen will be the first act to play the 13,500-capacity arena when he hits the stage on July 24.

Artists appearing during the venue’s official opening season in September include Sir Elton John, Kaiser Chiefs and Andrea Bocelli.

Tickets for the Nickelback show cost £37 and go on sale this Friday. (March 15)
