Calverley's charity champion
Inspirational Fiona Nisse is on a fundraising mission for a Calverley care home.
Champion House needs a new minibus which can support several wheelchairs and with disabled access. It is expected to cost around 30,000.
And Fiona, aged 47, who was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy at birth, raised over 1,000 towards the cause through a sponsored swim.
Despite not being able to move her arms and only having limited mobility in her legs, Fiona swam 80 widths of Holt Park Leisure Centre pool with her carer Holly Brassington.
Cheered on by residents, staff and volunteers from Champion House, she completed her swim in just over an hour and a half.
She said: "It was great to be able to do something for others, I enjoyed doing it knowing that the money raised was going towards the minibus."
Champion House is part of the Leonard Cheshire Disability charity.
Fiona has lived at Champion House since 1981 and has helped raise thousands of pounds for Leonard Cheshire Disability and Champion House.
Mary Harrison, service manager at Champion House, said "Although Fiona has severe physical and communication impairments she tirelessly fundraises for the charity and Champion House."
Anyone who can help with fundraising should contact Mary Harrison on 01274 612459.
