Bus birthday treat for Leeds boy

A bus-mad youngster from Leeds got a birthday ticket to ride courtesy of transport giant First.

Sanjay Bhuller, of Roundhay, is fascinated by buses, especially the bendy ftr services First operates in the city.

And after Sanjay's mum Pam wrote to bosses at the firm about her son's passion, they invited him to their depot in Bramley to sample life as

one of their drivers.

Sanjay, who turned four on Sunday, got the chance to sit behind the wheel of a stationary ftr and was also presented with a cake, goodie bag and special bus pass bearing his name.

Pam said: "He was thrilled to bits – the smile on his face was worth a million pounds."

Sanjay has excitedly identified passing buses as single deckers, double deckers or 'bendy' ftrs ever since he started talking. More recently, he has been shouting out passenger capacities of vehicles.

Brian Caldwell, First's training manager in Leeds, said: "Sanjay is the youngest bus enthusiast in the UK for sure.

"His knowledge of our buses, including how many people could be carried on them, was unbelievable."
