Bull terrier sees off pool pervert
A PERVERT who attacked a young woman was put to flight – by the victim's Staffordshire bull terrier.
The 26-year-old woman was attacked while walking her dog close to Kippax swimming pool complex shortly after midnight on Thursday.
Police said a man approached her and without warning punched her and then ordered her to strip.
Detective Sergeant Gary Taylor of North East Leeds CID, said that at that stage the woman's Staffordshire bull terrier dog began barking and snapping at the assailant, who quickly made off.
Det Sgt Taylor said the woman was not sexually assaulted during the incident but obviously shocked.
He urged anyone who was in the area around midnight who saw the woman walking her dog and who may have seen the attacker, to contact police at Stainbeck on 0113 241 3259.
The attacker is described as about 5ft 8in tall and spoke with a local accent.
Today - Friday - the area close to the swimming pool was taped off by police as forensic scientists and scenes of crimes officers examined the scene for clues.
