Over 300 Brownies took part in The LHF Big Brownie Brushathon at Temple Newsam.

Raman Sankaran, member services director at LHF Healthplan, said: "The event was a fun way to raise awareness of the importance of regular teeth cleaning. It was a fantastic sight, over 300 Brownies all brushing their teeth at the same time, the brushathon drew quite a crowd!

Chief executive at the British Dental Health Foundation, Doctor Nigel Carter said: "This was an excellent event. Brushing twice-a-day with fluoride toothpaste is vital if you are to maintain good oral health – and this was a great way to remind people of its importance.

"I am delighted that the Brownies set a new Yorkshire record and, not only that, they have raised awareness of the importance of brushing for two minutes - everyone involved should be very proud of their achievements!"

The day also included performances from The High School Musical and a dance master class courtesy of Theatre Train, Brownie sing song, face painting and a quiz.

The LHF Big Brownie Brushathon was attended by more than 500 people including 300 Brownies and Brownie Guiders, parents and two county commissioners of West Yorkshire.
