Fame Academy contestant Carloynne Good has revealed she will marry professional footballer David Poole this summer.
But when it came to telling her Leeds United-mad dad Michael what her fiance did for a living, the 27-year-old could not bring herself to confess he once played for Manchester United.
Carolynne said: "When I first met David I didn't tell my dad who he had played for because I didn't think he'd let him in the house!
"They were sat down watching a match on the telly one night and dad was giving David advice on how to play.
"When David got up to go home, my dad said 'what do you do for a living?' and he told him he played for Stockport County.
"After he'd gone I told my dad that David had also played for Manchester United and Yeovil. He said 'you're bringing a Manc into this house!'
"He was only joking really and they get on like a house on fire."
Carolynne, who came third in the BBC talent show in 2003, was back in Leeds on Saturday auditioning for a part in new Leeds movie, The Last Days of Edgar Harding, about a fictitious West Yorkshire band and their desperate bid for fame.
The actress and singer-songwriter has released two albums and starred alongside Ant & Dec in pantomime last Christmas.
On life after Fame Academy she said: "You'll never be as famous as when you come out of reality show, at least for five minutes anyway. But it did open a lot of doors for me."
