Boy band Blue back together

Blue have announced that they are back together.

Lee Ryan, Duncan James, Antony Costa, and Simon Webbe have reunited especially to perform at Capital FM's Summertime Ball.

Duncan said: "We're absolutely so ecstatic to be back together. We met up a couple of weeks ago to talk about it and we are so excited. I think we're going to enjoy it even more the second time round."

The band - whose debut single All Rise reached No 4 in the UK charts in May 2001 - sold seven million albums and four million singles but split up in 2005 to pursue solo careers.

Lee said on Capital FM on Tuesday morning: "We never actually broke up. We never said we was broken up officially."

But Simon interrupted: "We did though. We did say that we was persuing solo careers and stuff."

Antony said: "We got asked by Capital if we consider getting back together. They called us up and said you were such big supporters of the station back in the day and it would be great if you could back together for the Summertime Ball. And we're really looking forward to performing."

But the band were tight-lipped when asked by breakfast radio DJs Johnny Vaughn and Lisa Snowdon if they would be releasing new material the band.

Simon said: "We don't want to give anything away."

Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson, Akon, The Saturdays and Calvin Harris are the other acts so far revealed to be to playing at the ball at London's Emirates Stadium on Sunday June 7.
