Body found in River Wharfe at Tadcaster

THE body of a man has been recovered from the River Wharfe in Tadcaster.

North Yorkshire Police were called at 8.40am today by a member of the public who discovered some personal items on Mill Lane, near the river and subsequently officers became aware of a body in the water.

Police have been working with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue to recover the man’s body and a thorough search of the river banks is also being carried out.

The body is believed to be that of a local man aged in his 30s although formal identification is yet to take place.

Police said members of the man’s family have been informed and they are being supported by specially-trained officers.
