Blooming good effort

Colourful wall baskets brighten up the outside of the Good Neighbours Scheme base.

Scheme volunteer John Best put them up, and the planting was done by volunteers Harry Midgely, Freda Noonan and Gill Patrick.

The project was headed up by Moira Flynn who arranged for the mangers and baskets.

Jacki Lawrence, of Crossgates & District Good Neighbours Scheme, said: "This was an opportunity for members who are maybe not able to join in some of our other events, to be involved."

Mrs Lawrence said members help to keep them looking lovely by watering them.

"They give our menbers a feeling of pride in their scheme and community and are a sign to passers by that we are a group who care about each other and the local area," she added.

Funding for the baskets came from the Killingbeck and Seacroft Labour Councillors who donated 200 from their MICE funds.
