Leeds law firm The Needle Partnership launched its sponsorship of two women’s support charities with a Bhangra theme flash mob dance in Leeds city centre.
The launch, at The Roast cafe bar on Whitehall Road, marked the start of Needles’ support for Leeds Women’s Aid and Karma Nirvana, which works with victims of forced marriage.
Sharon Needle, the Needle Partnership’s managing partner, said: “Sadly domestic violence and other forms of abuse, including forced marriage, affects women from all our communities.
“Every year we select different charities to support over the next 12 months.
“We are a very multicultural firm with a high percentage of women so I wanted to sponsor charities that had some relevance.
“Leeds Women’s Aid and Karma Nirvana are particularly apt for a legal firm because of the pending legislation to criminalise forced marriages.”
Scores of people stepped up to the challenge and took part in the Bhangra flash mob dance to launch the charity drive.
The law firm will be supporting both charities for the next 12 months.
