Officers were called at 11.10pm on Friday, October 2, amid fears there had been a shooting and stabbing. The incident involved a clash between a group of youths.
One man was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be serious. Five men, thought to be in their late teens, were arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail. An air rifle was recovered from the scene.
The Moorhouse and neighbouring Junction pubs were sealed off for more than 12 hours, along with flats on Admiral Street and Dewsbury Road.
Michelle Knowles, licensee of the Moorhouse, said: "There must have been about 20 people still inside here at the time the police came in. Three of them were armed and they told a member of staff to lock the doors and not to let anybody in or out. We have been told that someone was shot in the back by a gang."
One Moorhouse customer, said: "It was frightening because no one really knew what was going on."
