Thousands of people have signed a petition to keep toilets open in Batley.
Attempts to reopen the public toilets in Batley Market Place have taken another step forward with a new campaign group made up of residents, businesses and town MP Mike Wood. Talks have begun with Batley’s councillors. The group hopes to secure funding to maintain and operate the toilets.
Pat Crisp, a leading member of the group, has been campaigning to have the toilets re-opened since their closure last year.
Thousands of people have signed her petition. She aid: “While we can’t promise that we will be able to re-open the toilets, we can promise that we will do everything we can to make that happen.”
