Works of art and photographs which have recently been added to a museum collection have now gone on display.
Money from the Heritage Lottery Fund has allowed Wakefield’s National Coal Mining Museum to add new pieces to its collection.
The exhibition, Seeing the Whole Picture, which is free displays art and photos acquired by the museum over the last four years.
The new work includes paintings by miner-artists Tom McGuinness and Norman Cornish, paintings by Peter Howson, Josef Herman and Keith Vaughan and a collection of works by George William Bissill.
Alongside these are new photographs, with a focus on images taken during the 1984-85 Miners’ Strike including the work of Don McCullin.
