The Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, met the Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, John Packer, yesterday at Holy Trinity Church in Leeds, at the start of a two day visit to the Diocese of Ripon and Leeds.

He heard about redevelopment plans to create a venue for art and events at the 18th century church, which would remain a place of worship.

The archbishop also carried out a number of other engagements including a visit to the David Young Community Academy in Seacroft, and later in the day he learnt about the campaign to retain children’s cardiac services in Leeds.

Today (Sept 21) the archbishop will be in North Yorkshire where he will visit the Hope Debt Advice agency.
