The crash took place near to the Stansfield Arms pub in Apperley Bridge as the women were returning home from a school reunion.

Witter pleaded guilty to the charges during a hearing at Bradford Crown Court.

He also admitted aggravated vehicle taking, being uninsured, having no licence and driving while over the alcohol limit.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC told Witter: "This is an extremely grave matter. You have killed two people in a stolen car when over the limit.

"You will receive a very substantial prison sentence."'

The full details of the incident were not revealed in court yesterday and Judge Durham Hall agreed to adjourn the hearing so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared on Witter.

Witter, of Town Street, Armley, will be brought back to Bradford Crown Court on November 13 for sentencing.

He was remanded in custody.
