Silver surfers are being urged to learn how to make free phonecalls and bag a bargain online.
Age UK Leeds is encouraging people aged over 55, who are not already internet literate, to sign up to one of two half day courses and find out how to save money.
The aim is to teach older people about Skype, which allows anyone with access to the internet to make calls anywhere in the world for free.
And to prove the financial benefit of shopping online.
Julia Edmunds, from Age UK Leeds, said: “Skyping is a great way for people to keep in touch with family and friends for free and there are also huge savings to be made by shopping on line.”
The classes will be held on October 12 and October 26 at the charity’s headquarters situated at The Bradbury Building on Mark Lane, off The Headrow, in the city centre.
