Administration-hit Leeds hotel set to reopen after £3.1m sale

A luxury Leeds hotel is set to reopen almost a year after it went into administration.

The Ellington, on York Place, opened in September 2008 amid a blaze of publicity after being listed in the Leading Small Hotels in the World Directory.

The 35-room hotel features an art deco restaurant overseen by Albert Roux.

But five months later the owner, City Retreats Group, fell into administration and was forced to closed.

Administrators confirmed the sale of the hotel in March to Edinburgh-based West Register (Realisations) Limited for 3.13m.

It is now set to reopen next month, according to Bespoke Hotels, its new operator.

The company said a refurbishment was being carried out but the hotel is expected to maintain its 1950s jazz theme – it is named in tribute to Duke Ellington.
