A chance to win your £10,000 wedding day

HAPPY TOGETHER: Last years YEP wedding competition winners, Helen Porecka and Nathan Early.

HAPPY TOGETHER: Last years YEP wedding competition winners, Helen Porecka and Nathan Early.

Brides and grooms have got the chance to win the perfect big day thanks to the YEP.

We have teamed up with the Park Plaza Hotel to offer the chance for one lucky couple to win their dream wedding worth over £10,000.

The fabulous prize includes a wedding buffet for 50 people, a stunning wedding dress, wedding rings, bespoke flowers and a cake.

Last years winners Helen Porecka and Nathan Early, from Killingbeck, beat off competition from dozens of loved-up couples from across Leeds.

Recently qualified nurse Helen told the YEP after she had won: “I was shaking and I didn’t know what to do with myself - I was running round the house like a mad woman.

“For us financially, marriage has never been an option, we’ve a lot of financial responsibilities with our mortgage and all that.”

The 27-year-old said the only thing she’s ever won is an art sketchbook when she was aged 10. The pair, who live in Killingbeck got engaged on their 11-year anniversary on November 11, 2011 but feared it could have been another decade until they could afford their wedding.

Nathan said: “She (Helen) rang me and all I got was this screech through the phone.

“To be honest it didn’t really hit me, I’m a little bit more reserved than Helen so I tried to remain a little bit composed – it’s unbelievable.”

To enter the competition all you have to do is collect four tokens that will be printed in the YEP and send a photograph and 100 words about why you should win the prize.

Couples will then be featured in the newspaper and given their own special voting code. It will be up to readers to vote for their favourite entries between March 21 and 30.

The lucky couple will be the one with the most votes.
