DOZENS of walkers stepped out for peace in support of inspirational survivor of the London 7/7 suicide bombings Gill Hicks.
The campaigner launched WalkTalk in Leeds in her efforts to promote peace and community relations.
Gill lost both her legs in the blast triggered by Jermaine Lindsay at Russell Square tube station in July 2005. Three years later she has pledged to complete a month-long cross country trek from Leeds to London using prosthetic legs.
The first section of WalkTalk started out from Leeds' Millennium Square on Saturday, ending in Beeston, home to two of the suicide bombers.
Supporters included Gill's husband Joe Kerr, acclaimed Yorkshire fundraiser Zulfi Hussain and members of Leeds-based group Together for Peace.
Together they will walk between 10 and 20 miles a day, stopping in Dewsbury and Wakefield before heading cross country through South Yorkshire, Nottingham, Leicester, and Bedfordshire.
The final leg of the walk will be from London's multicultural Brick Lane to the finish in the West End.
