Clear out your wardrobes, empty your drawers and make way for the Bag-athon.
All this month the people of Leeds will be urged to join a campaign - backed by the YEP - which will help the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) fight against heart disease.
The challenge is to help fill 1,000 charity bags with unwanted, good quality items this September.
Official charity bags can be collected from local BHF shops or participating newsagents - where they can also be returned once full.
Each bag is worth an average of £20, which will help the charity continue life-saving work locally.
Mavis Dillon, area manager for BHF shops in Leeds, said: “I’d like to encourage everyone to get involved and join in the Great British Bag-athon.
“BHF shops sell 90,000 items daily so donations from the local community are vital.
“We’re always keen to receive lovely clothing, accessories, handbags, shoes, books, CDs and DVDs so get filling those bags now. Every bag you fill makes a real difference.”
Shoppers at the Merrion Centre have pledged their support for the Bag-athon, encouraged by the Lord Mayor of Leeds councillor Ann Castle.
