World Book Day celebrated at Lawnswood School
Lawnswood School celebrated this year's World Book Day with a wide variety of events.
One of these included an hour long Q&A session held in the school library with author Zo Sharp.
Her audience consisted of budding authors and keen readers from Year 7.
After writing her first novel at age 15, Zo has had seven books published, one of which was made into a short film.
She has also been a journalist and still takes pictures for magazines in her spare time.
Many of the students had questions about how to get published? - "find an agent"; and how to start writing a book? - "set yourself mini deadlines, 500 words a day will mean you've written the length of a novel in under six months".
Zo was also asked whether the adage "write about what you know" should be adhered to. Her advice was simple: "you can't always write what you know but it's very important to write about what you want to know – and enjoy researching it!"
