Whitkirk Primary: Kids in the kitchen serve up a treat
Jamie Olivers of the future took over the kitchens to serve up healthy school meals to staff and pupils.
Youngsters from year six at Whitkirk Primary School, whipped up a fruit cocktail plus a salad of couscous, red and green peppers, cucumber and spring onions.
After honing their skills with Leeds City Council's catering service and kitchen staff, the 10 and 11-year-olds then dished out their culinary creations to classmates and teachers.
Head teacher Steve Clark said: "It went down a treat."
The project, which sees students swapping classrooms for kitchens, is part of National School Meals Week, aimed at promoting healthy eating.
