West Leeds: Road revamp will cut journey times on busy A647 commuter route
Road improvements that could cut journey times along the A647 in west Leeds have been approved by councillors.
Phase one of a "Quality Bus Corridor" scheme on the A647 is already underway and now further work is to go ahead.
Stages two and three of the scheme includes improvements to the approach to Dawson's Corner from Bradford Road, better facilities for pedestrians and cyclists and a priority lane for vehicles with more than one occupant.
Councillor Andrew Carter, council leader, said: "We are fully aware of the longstanding problems along the A647 and we are working hard to improve the situation.
"A priority lane for vehicles with multiple occupants will also be introduced which will improve traffic flow and reduce journey times."
