Tree planting scheme gives Chapeltown a greener look

A scheme has been launched to green-up Chapeltown.

Trees are being planted in Chapeltown in a project funded by the council's local area committee.

And Labour councillors for the area lent a hand when they joined parks officers to plant a tree at the junction of Sholebroke Street and Sholebroke Terrace.

Coun Jane Dowson (Lab, Chapel Allerton) said: "This funding which we pressed for from the area committee has already meant that trees have been planted on other streets of Chapeltown such as the Reginalds and Elfords.

"Research has indicated in a number of ways how living in tree-filled neighbourhoods can have a very positive effect on the well-being of communities."
