Officers were called to Tinshill Close at 8.30am on Wednesday, January 21, after a passer-by found the body of a local man in the car.

Local resident Scott Barron said he saw the silver Vauxhall Corsa with its doors open but what appeared to be a pipe through a window.

Sajad Ali, who was at the home of a friend opposite which the car was parked, said he saw the car with a man at the wheel at 1.15am. The man had appeared to be asleep and he did not suspect anything was wrong.

He said he had never seen the silver car parked in the street before.

Police knocked at the door and when he looked out he could see that one of the car's windows had been smashed.

Police sealed off the cul-de-sac and confirmed that a man believed to be in his 30s was found in a car. Ambulance crews pronounced the man dead at the scene.

A police spokesman said that it was too early to say how the man had died and the full circumstances were being investigated.
