Temple Newsam is among six parks in Leeds to maintain their positions on the national list of excellence which has been announced for this year.
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by the Civic Trust, began in 1996 and is the national standard for parks and green spaces. Winners vary from Victorian parks and town centre gardens to nature reserves, country parks and cemeteries.
Sites must be judged to be welcoming, safe and well maintained with the strong involvement of the local community. Awards are given on an annual basis and winners must apply each year to renew their Green Flag status.
The first Leeds park to achieve the honour was Pudsey Park in 2003. The following year Lotherton Hall and Temple Newsam Estate were added, before Golden Acre Park and Roundhay Park joined the list in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
Leeds City Council Executive Member for Leisure, Councillor John Procter, said: "The Green Flag Awards are now firmly established as being the indicator of the finest parks in the country and so to have and maintain six Leeds parks on the prestigious list is a real testament to all the staff who help to keep the parks in such good condition.
"Leeds is renowned for being a very green city and the Green Flag success helps further that reputation nationally which is something we should all be very proud of."
