Slideshow: Crossgates Carnival 2006 highlights
Enjoy our photo memories of Crossgates Carnival 2006 which saw 1,500 people turn out to join in the fun.
The event was officially opened by Lord Mayor of Leeds Councillor Mohammed Iqbal at Manston Park.

Hundreds of young carnival goers enjoyed making decorate musical shakers, fask masks and fingers puppets while others took the opportunity to have have their face painted with England flags proving very popular.

Christ Church's Rev Graham Wray was kept on his toes managing a five-a-side football competition while members of Cross Gates Methodist juggled a number of games including connect four, lawn darts, and flower ping pong.
Singing was provided by 2nd and 3rd Manston Brownies and line dancing from 2nd Crossgates Rainbows.
Children were also able to talk to Spike the Police Road Safety Hedgehog and climb aboard a fire engine from Stanks fire station. A free barbeque proved to be a roaring success with a team of volunteers from St Theresa's and St James' churches giving away 1,500 hot dogs and beefburgers, 2,000 choc ices and lollies as well as a 210 litre water barrel filled with free orange squash.
Carnival coordinator Karen Gray said: "We want to serve the community in a really practical way - Carnival is about having fun together. It's the only event in the area and proivides a really positive focus."
Mrs Gray added: "I would like to express my thanks to all those who have worked so hard to help make the day the huge success it has been. The volunteers were amazing - with people even joining in on the day to make it a real community event."
Funding for the event comes comes predominantly from St Therea's (Catholic) Church, St James, Manston (Church of England), Crossgates Methodist Church, Christ Church (Free Church of England) and Church in the Home, which is part of the Salt & Light Family of independent churches.
A grant of 500 was received from Leeds City Council and 250 from charity Create.
