Sign prankster mocks Cross Gates sculpture
They have been viewed with affection and disdain in equal measure since they were pitched on a roundabout in Cross Gates.
But now, one local prankster has delivered his own verdict on the town's 'crossed gates' sculptures.

The mystery resident has created his own Welcome to Cross Gates sign – and screwed it to one of the gates.

Local resident Simon Watson spotted the sign on his way home from work on Thursday.

The civil servant said: "I have no idea who has done it but they deserve a medal.
"A ridiculous amount of money has been spent on (the gates] and they're a joke. They are more like farm gates. What do they say about Cross Gates? Nothing."
The gates have been placed on the roundabout which links Cross Gates with the ring road.
The brainchild of civic architect John Thorp, Leeds City Council says they were approved by the public two years ago.
But they have caused controversy ever since being installed and the YEP has been flooded with Letters to the Editor about them.
A recent letter from Nick Wingfield, of Leeds, struck a chord with many. It read: "Inspired by the genius who created the Cross Gates sculptures I have a few ideas of my own. How about for Roundhay: a sculpture of a round ball of hay? Or for Oakwood: a plank made of oak?
"But the idea I've had that most sums up our city leaders' forward-thinking vision is this: A sculpture in Millennium Square featuring a group of councillors perpetually chucking our money into a giant toilet. Have I got the commission?"
