Councillors Jane Dowson, Eileen Taylor and Mohammed Rafique in backing the scheme have called on youngsters in and around the Scott Hall area not to miss out on this fantastic opportunity once places become available.
Councillor Jane Dowson (Lib Dem, Chapel Allerton) said: "This scheme will provide a whole range of affordable activities for local youngsters to keep active during their summer holidays through a top range of qualified coaching and advice.
"Not only will this sports camp have positive health benefits, it will also serve as an educational facility. The camp aims to keep local children occupied and entertained during the summer break through recreational activities and by educating them on community issues."
She added: "This is an excellent opportunity for local children and even their parents to get involved in during the school holidays. It is vital that facilities are provided for children in our area, especially outside of term time, and we are committed to continue providing such facilities in the future."
