Scents and memories

It is 15 years since Nicky Kinnaird opened the first Space NK store in London, and it has now become a brand with cult status.

It's the sweetie store for grown-up women who want to discover clever brands outside the mainstream fashion names and was born when Nicky, then a chartered surveyor, began to buy niche brands for her own use, sourced on her business travels.

Some of the best-known ranges championed by Nicky include Eve Lom, Dr Sebagh, Nars, Laura Mercier, Chantecaille, Diptyque and Frederic Fekkai.

To mark the 15th anniversary of the store, Space NK's signature product range has been revamped and four new fragrances have been introduced.

Tuberoli, Champaca, Jasamber and Santalrosa (40) all conjure up different travel destinations, from the icy beauty of Lapland to the heat of India, and each comes with its own range of body products and scented candles.

The products are gentle but effective and exclude many chemicals deemed to be potentially harmful.

Available from Space NK in Leeds and Harrogate, from.spacenk.com and by mail order on 020 8740 2085 .

Add a little zest...

Jo Malone has produced a scent of delicious

contrasts with Sweet Lime and Cedar Cologne (59). Jasmine, ylang, ylang, coconut and the vanilla-like tonka bean all feature in this latest fragrance which appeals to both men and women with its zesty citrus fruits and nutty woody notes.

Gently does it!

Erbaviva is a cult mother and baby brand with a celebrity following, and now it's available in Leeds.

The brand was developed twelve years ago by a Californian couple who wanted to create a collection of the purest organic, luxurious skincare products available, and they were so successful it now has a worldwide reputation among those in the know.

Its celebrity followers include Charlize Theron, Renee Zellweger, Nicole Kidman and Uma Thurman.

The range includes all the products needed from pregnancy to birth and beyond and all the problems of babyhood are addressed, so there is an Organic Baby Chest Balm (9) to sooth a cold, and Organic Baby Lip and Cheek Balm (7.50) to protect delicate cheeks in cold weather.

Baby Washbag (26.50) is the ultimate in gentle, soapless washing – unbleached muslin sachets are filled with organic oats, milk and lavender to be used as a washcloth on tiny babies, or on anyone with sensitive skin, while the Diaper Cream contains echinacea in active proportions to heal and protect. There's lots for mum too, from Balance Bath Oil ( 15) to Stretch Mark Oil (23).

All available from Harvey Nichols in Leeds.

Neat idea

Very few of us stick with just one handbag these days, we're more likely to chop and change according to our outfit, our destination, or the season.

Which means its more important than ever to keep our stuff in some sort of order – otherwise it all gets transferred in a spirit-lowering muddle from one bag to another.

To help us deal with this organisational problem, two Leeds women have set up a company selling Bagatidy, an innovative handbag organiser to cut right through the bag chaos.

Francine Cohen is a showbusiness journalist and Marcia Raynard is a stay at home mum and this is the first venture into business for both of them.

Bagatidy (18.99 inc postage and packing) is available from.bagatidy.co.uk.

Famous perfume reinvents itself

Chanel No 5 has long been an iconic perfume, ever since Marilyn Monroe declared it to be the only thing she wore in bed. It was created by Coco Chanel who said she wanted to create: "A woman's fragrance that smells like a woman" and in 1921 it was the first of its kind. Now Chanel No 5 has been reinvented with the launch of Eau premiere, offering a lighter, softer more discreet version of the famous scent in tune with women of today. Available from Chanel counters.

Biotic brilliance

Luxury haircare brand Kerastase has launched a new range Biotic designed to maintain the condition of the scalp and alleviate minor irritations.

A form of skin, the scalp is a delicate ecosystem made up of essential microflora and the production factory of healthy hair. The right balance of microflora is essential but it can be disrupted by many factors from hormonal and dietary factors to stress and chemical processes.

To combat all this, the new Biotic range contains bioflorine to nourish the scalp and consists of Bain Bio-recharge for Dry hair (13) Bain Bio-Recharge for Combination Hair (13) and Concentre Biorecharge (24) .
