Carley said: "This give the young people a chance to take part in fun and exciting new experiences and open up a whole new world of opporunities for them.

"From what I've seen today they really enjoy it, and it works really well because they get to make closer bonds with their friends in a safe environment outside the classroom."

Nicola, 25, Rhinos captain for three years said: "It's a lovely group to teach, the girls have worked hard and picked up the routines really quickly."

Amy Strange, 11, said: "I've loved the cheerleading sessions. It's been really good learning all the moves and having Nicola teaching us, she's fair but kind and now we all want to do it for the Rhinos when we're old enough."

"It was amazing having Carley here, she was really nice and down to earth, and didn't mind us asking for autographs."

Fellow dancer Sian Gilmartin, 11, said: "I thought I was dreaming when I heard she was coming to visit - I see her on telly all the time."

Extended services clubs are running morning, noon and night and have been proved to have a positive impact on the attainment of pupils.

Activities include football, arts and crafts, textiles, young chefs training, circuit training, a theatre club, science club, and a gospel choir.

Extended services leader Jo Odu said: "At Roundhay we work hard to ensure our students realise their potential inside and outside the classroom.

Hollyoaks fans will be glued to their television screens this week as Steph's love interest Niall causes havoc in the village by kidnapping his family.

But Carley insists he's lovely in real life.

"I love working with Barry, he's a beautiful person and I know everyone says it, but I absolutely love my storylines at the moment - it's going to get even more exciting for Steph so keep watching."
