Around 20 former pupils travelled from all over the world for Roundhay High School's tenth reunion since leaving in 1950.

But there was one missing face at the celebration.

Famous novelist Elizabeth Adler, who has written 12 novels, has usually joined the bunch from her home in California where she lives with her family but was unable to make it this year.

Organiser Patricia Widdall jetted in from Spain while others came from the US, Canada and Ireland as well as from across the UK to make their annual meeting.

Patricia, 74, started the trend in 1998 and saw the former pupils reunite at Weetwood Hall to catch up on old times.

"It was absolutely fabulous. I was quite overcome because they bought me flowers for organising it.

"We had a meal and a trip down memory lane and we all really look forward to it every year.

"Elizabeth Adler is one of us girls – it's just a shame she couldn't make it this year."
