David Pickering, minister at St Andrew's, said: "Arnold has retired after eleven years as Moderator – that's the equivalent of a bishop in the Anglican and Roman Catholic churches – and in all this time he and Muriel have been active members of St Andrews.
"We shall all miss them and, as minister, I shall miss Arnold's wise support."
"We'll look forward to welcoming Arnold and Muriel back."
Arnold Harrison said: "I've preached around Yorkshire and the Humber to say goodbye, but it was important that I gave my last sermon as Moderator, in Roundhay, at St Andrews.
"Muriel and I have always been at home here. For the first time in fifty years, I have no preaching engagements in my diary. I began serving God by preaching when I was fifteen! I have no doubt the Lord will be filling my diary!"
"St Andrew's has given us a farewell gift of crystal wine glasses and a decanter, which we'll treasure and use well," added Muriel Harrison.
"We are moving back to Cheshire, where our family is," added Mr Harrison, "but I shall wear my White Rose with pride in spreading the Good News of Jesus."
