Rothwell: Have a say on projects

Residents from a Rothwell estate are being asked how to spend £15,000 in their community.

Seven projects are bidding for support.

The so-called "participatory budgeting" is a way of involving local

communities in decision-making.

Projects on the short list include: Wood Lane Youth Project (fun activities to counter antisocial behaviour); Wood Lane Junior Wardens and Groundwork (environment activities for children); Wood Lane Tea Time Club (a healthy meal each week at a venue on the estate); Joseph Priestley College (careers guidance and interview tips) and Neighbourhood Policing (improved transport for police officers and community support officers).

Residents can let the council know their views on its Talking Point database.
